About Us

The Floral Project is a 501(c) 3 organization that focuses on teenage pregnancy prevention, health, education and self-empowerment through youth development programs.

The name stems from the Proverb that states, "Flowers are God's way of smiling at the earth," so our initiative aims to nourish and flourish our garden of youth, by supporting and educating them about not giving up on themselves. Adolescents will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that will encourage them to make the proper choices when faced with many societal ills that are involved with being a young adult.

This program seeks to form partnerships with local school districts, health care physicians/clinics, churches and the department of family and children services. The Floral Project's goal is to foster a commitment to young woman and teenage mothers that will promote strong interpersonal skills, tools in regards to motherhood, sexual education, nutritional science, physical fitness, self worth and reassert a sense of hope in their futures.

The Floral Project is in direct response to the growing number of young girls that are either falling through the cracks at school because they lack the skills and strategy to maintain, are raising a child/children, have already dropped out because they have lost their since of hope, or socio-economically disadvantaged. The goal of the program is to identify youths who are going to have a turbulent transition into adulthood and offer positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. We aim to help teens avoid any of the possible negative outcomes of adolescent sexual behavior, such as unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including HIV infections. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower the young person to make positive changes in her life.

Mission Statement

The Floral Project is committed to flourishing and nourishing our garden of youth through expansion of and access to programs, the establishment of resources and advocacy for policies that assist young people in preventing unintended pregnancies, building self-empowerment, making health conscious decisions, while encouraging education through youth development programs that assist them in blossoming to their highest potential.

Vision

The vision for this project is to assist teenage girls in becoming mentally elevated. We aim to assist them in making wise choices in regards to their lives and assist them in understanding that compromising themselves should never be an option, because respect is everything. Not just the respect of their peers, but the respect for themselves as well.

We'll come together as a whole and learn about sisterhood and the importance of support of one another. We aim to decrease the number of unplanned pregnancies and the teenage mother dropout statistic in the Southeast. We will empower teenage girls through educational opportunities in the effort to raise a garden of strong, confident flowers with the power and skills to survive any trial.
